Timely Tidbits, Sassy Snippets, Witty Wisdom, Inspiring Insights for the Journey

This week it might be fun to take you on a journey into a few of my Facebook quotes and thoughts from the past few weeks. I’m not the author of some of the thoughts. I just hang around and listen, read, and observe.

I was encouraged to do this by our website designer. He said something like this, “You need to get current. People are using social media and Facebook. Engage people. Be humorous, be edgy, and get people’s attention. Present truth in sassy and illuminating ways. Bless people.

Something in this article may be an Aha that gives perspective, illumination, peace or a solution to you. Maybe even a laugh. Here goes.

Question for today: ‘How do you expect kids to listen to their parents when Tarzan lives half naked, Cinderella comes home at midnight, Goldilocks goes in for breaking and entering and stealing food, Pinocchio lies all the time, Aladdin is the king of thieves, Batman drives at 200 mph, Sleeping Beauty is lazy, and Snow White lives with 7 guys?’

Aha for today: ‘Sometimes God calms the storm. Sometimes God lets the storm rage while He calms us.’ ‘Worry is what gives small things big shadows.’ ‘Maybe I’ve got to be sufficiently broken by life’s many broken promises to be sufficiently compelled to seek out God’s unbreakable promises.’

Thought for today: Here are six ladies you don’t want to date: Miss Communication…Miss Understanding…Miss Trust…Miss Informed…Miss Interpret and Miss Demeanor. That is a Miss Take! (My good friend Jim Tewalt gave me this concept).

Thought for today: There are two states in Christianity…position and condition. ‘Positionally,’ we are seated in Christ in the heavenly places. We are justified…just-as-if-I’d never sinned. Conditionally, living on the earth side of our eternal life, we will never be sinless but now we are empowered to sin less as Christ in formed is us. 1 John 1:8.

Thought for today: A sunset is nothing more and nothing less than the backside of a sunrise. Too many live their whole lives bullied something they have held on too coming to an end. Why not celebrate the new beginning that is coming? We should not be rebelling against an end that we fear. Instead, we can be reveling in a beginning that we can’t wait to begin. More often than not, the end is just a beginning in disguise.

Aha for today by Warren Buffet: On Earnings. “Never depend on single income. Make investment to create a second source.” On Spending: “If you buy things you do not need, soon you will have to sell things you need.” On Savings: “Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving.” On Taking Risks: “Never test the depth of a river with both feet.” On Investment: “Do not put all eggs in one basket.” On Expectations: “Honesty is a very expensive gift. Do not expect it from cheap people.” Easy to say, hard to do!

Ed’s thought for today: Some say that having children is too expensive, too risky, to heart breaking, too complicated, gets in the way of career, and all that other stuff. But I say anything our kids cost us was nothing to what they give us back…wiggly, giggly, love filled grandchildren. I should be paying our grownup children and their spouses for my grandchildren. One night with all four ‘grandies’ and we are more than even. Not criticizing those who choose not to have children or couldn’t…just saying that Becky and I get back more than what our children ever cost us. And just think, our youngest son and his future spouse may give us more ‘grandies.’ No pressure though, youngest son!

I hope that you enjoyed these thoughts. I know many of my Facebook friends did. There’s one more snippet I would like to end with. Its benefits are out of this world.

The last Aha for today: Heaven: “It’s not a question of what you know. It’s a question of Who you know.” Romans 10:9-11.

The goal of these 450 word articles is to build a bridge to the community through humor, wisdom and changing mental perceptions that the community has of the church.
